The backpack will be contracted by a backpack manufacturer to produce the backpacks that would be provided to all school students, and faculty. This backpack will be versatile, and capable. It will also be strong and durable. There is no point in making the “cheapest” backpack if it has to be replaced in 6 months. The backpack will be central to the student as it would allow them to carry not only their computer, and ebook tablet, but also any pens (if they want to), a water bottle, phone, and other smaller items. The backpack will have 4 sections, and 2 pockets. Each of the pockets can support a 1 liter bottle for water, or other drinks. Obviously, with school, one shouldn’t use their bottle for milk, or soda as the taste of those will diminish. The best thing for the bottles will be water. Water bottles will be sold in the school store. The water bottle will be designed with the backpack in mind, and be just a plain single color without any logos. By not having logos, it would allow for a larger production since all schools will have the same nothing on the bottle.
The backpack will also have a clear slot that will show contact information of the owner. This could be a name, and either telephone number, or email address. The card will need to be able to reach a live person, so maybe the contact information will be that of a trusted and approved friend, or guardian. There will also be a pocket for glasses in case the student will need glasses to read.
The sections of the backpack will be used to sort everything the student might need. The large section will be able to support up to a 16″ PC. This does not mean that the student is required to have a 16″ PC, but it can still support that size nonetheless. The main section will have 2 pockets. One will be for the PC, and the other pocket can hold the eBook Tablet as mentioned in another page. The second pocket will hold an eBook reader, handheld, and all of the tools needed for the student as mentioned. Another section will carry other items, and a special section for glasses will be available. There will be 2 exterior pockets for water bottles which the student should have.
The backpack will also have wheels at the bottom for times where it might be more appropriate for the student to roll their backpack. This could be if the student is currently too small to wear the backpack on their backs. This could be especially true for elementary students. Keep in mind, the goal is to make the backpack last the 12 years of grade school.
Rationale
The backpack will be designed to serve the student for their time in school. It would be hard if not impossible to carry everything in the arms of the student. There will be an easier chance to drop something and that would likely damage the item dropped. With a backpack, it would seem more obvious. Everything goes in the backpack, and the backpack can be rolled or carry on the back. The student will enter the classroom, and take out the items from the backpack and place them on the desk. When finished, the student places everything back into the backpack, and go to their next class. This will also serve for coming, and leaving school.
